Mobile man charged with murdering his brother in McDonald’s parking lot

A 21-year-old Mobile man is charged with gunning down his older brother in the parking lot of a McDonald’s Thursday afternoon, according to Mobile police.

Police were called to the restaurant on Schillinger Road just before 4 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Marquis Antonio Roper suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he died of his wounds.

Shortly after Roper was taken from the scene, police apprehended his younger brother, Jakore Donte Jones, and charged him with murder. He remained held without bond in Mobile Metro Jail as of Friday morning, with an initial court appearance scheduled for Friday.
